Blow open your mind with Monsters of Folk’s Temazcal

December 22, 2009

The word “Temazcal” doesn’t fly with basic spell check, so there’s already a good reason to Google it.  A temazcal is a mesoamerican bath house/sauna-type of thing used back in prehistoric days and is apparently being recovered for modern use as a way to cleanse the body, mind and spirit.  If the voices and sounds of Monsters of Folk can’t do that, nothing can.

The Setting:  A good song for the outdoors and/or at nighttime, especially when the stars are out.  Even better if you can at least get a glimpse of the moon while you listen.  “You’re there and then you’re not,” so if you’re not, just stay right where you are for a minute and visualize whatever comes to mind as this song transforms your current surroundings into something inspirational.  Bring back a memory.  Start missing something that isn’t even gone.
